17 flights cancelled at Bengaluru airport due to airspace restrictions

Bengaluru:

Airspace restrictions disrupted flight operations at Kempegowda International Airport on Tuesday, leading to the cancellation of 17 flights, including several services connecting Bengaluru to key West Asian destinations.

According to airport authorities, nine incoming flights and eight departures were cancelled on March 17 after restrictions were imposed on certain international airspace corridors.

The affected routes included major sectors such as Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dubai and Doha, which together handle a substantial share of Bengaluru’s international passenger traffic.

Airport officials said the cancellations were triggered by airspace curbs outside the airport’s operational control. Airlines are expected to adjust schedules or reroute flights depending on the availability of alternate air routes.

Passengers scheduled to travel on the affected sectors have been advised to check with their respective airlines for updates on revised flight schedules or rebooking options.
