Bengaluru

In a major push towards sustainable urban transport, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), and Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA) have announced the winners of the “STAMP: Nudging Commuter Behaviour” challenge. This collaborative initiative, supported by the Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) and WRI India, aims to reduce traffic congestion and emissions by shifting commuters away from personal vehicles toward shared and public transport.

From a pool of 32 applicants, CommuteVerse, Nippon Koei, Orbit Wallet, and Tummoc were selected for their innovative, behaviour-driven mobility solutions. The four winners will receive a combined grant of $100,000 and begin pilot projects in Electronics City from August 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Namma Metro Yellow Line.

Launched in April 2025, the STAMP Innovation Challenge focused on enhancing metro ridership through gamification, real-time nudges, and inclusive last-mile connectivity. The selected solutions range from mobile apps that integrate multimodal transport and payments to gamified platforms encouraging tech employees to commute sustainably.

TMF’s Executive Program Director, Pras Ganesh, said the challenge represents a blend of behavioural science and tech to enable commuter-first planning. ELCIA President Sriram Kumar V emphasized the human-centric design of mobility solutions in a rapidly growing employment hub like Electronics City.

With support from public agencies and industry leaders, these pilots promise scalable solutions for Bengaluru and potentially, cities across India.
