Auto driver arrested in Gauribidanur for cutting birthday cake with sword

An autorickshaw driver from Vaichakuru village in Gauribidanur was arrested after a video of him cutting his birthday cake with a sword went viral on social media.

The accused, identified as Anil Kumar, had organised a birthday celebration where he cut a cake decorated with the word “King” using a sword. The act was recorded and widely shared online, drawing the attention of local law enforcement.

Acting on the viral footage, the Gauribidanur Rural Police detained Anil Kumar and booked him under relevant sections for unlawful display and use of weapons. Authorities stated that public displays involving dangerous weapons can incite unsafe behaviour and must be discouraged.

Police have issued a warning against such celebratory acts and said further action would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
