BBMP demolishes unauthorised structures of 12 buildings in Yelahanka Zone
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has stepped up its efforts to remove unauthorized construction within the Yelahanka Zone. A recent demolition operation resulted in the clearing of excess floors or unauthorised parts from 12 buildings across various areas of Yelahanka and Byatarayanapura constituencies. The demolition initiative was overseen by Karigowda, the Commissioner of Yelahanka Zone.
The operation targeted buildings where owners had violated sanctioned building plans by adding additional or unauthorized floors. Specifically, these demolitions took place in the Yelahanka and Byatarayanapura Assembly constituencies.
Demolition in Yelahanka Zone
- In Kempegowda Ward No. 01, a building located at Property No. 24, Shivanahalli Main Road, Surabhi Layout, Yelahanka, had an unauthorised third floor added to a sanctioned building with stilt + ground + first + second floors. This third floor has now been demolished.
- Attur Ward No. 03 in Yelahanka Suburban Subdivision saw similar violations. At Property Nos. 3 and 4 in Muneshwara Layout, a building had been constructed with an additional third floor despite being approved only for stilt + ground + first + second floors. The third floor was demolished, as no building plan approval had been issued for the extra floor due to the property’s “B” khata status.
- Another unauthorised construction in Muneshwara Layout, at Property Nos. 15 and 16, was also found with an extra third floor, which has now been cleared.
- In Yelahanka New Town Ward No. 04, a building at Property No. 1200/322D had been granted approval for G + 2 floors, but an additional floor was under construction. Officials acted swiftly to halt and demolish the excess structure.
- In Chikkabommasandra Nanjundappa Layout, a third floor was found to have been constructed without approval at Property No. 17. The demolition process for this floor is currently underway.
- In Srirampura, Ward No. 05, Property No. 790/964/1, the building had been constructed with unauthorised floors exceeding the approved plan of S + G + 2. The excess floors were demolished.
- In Jakkur, Ward No. 06, a property at Property No. 767 had been built with extra floors beyond the approved stilt + ground + first + second floors. These unauthorised parts have been removed by the officials.
- Another violation was found in Kodigehalli, where an unauthorised fourth floor was added to a property approved for basement + ground + first + second + third floors. The fourth floor has now been demolished.
- Tennis Village Layout, Property No. 05 in Byatarayanapura, had a similar situation, with an unauthorised fourth floor added to a building approved for ground, first, second, and third floors. This floor has been demolished as part of the BBMP operation.
- In Yogesh Nagar, Hebbal Kempapura, Ward No. 10, a building constructed by an individual named Prabhu exceeded the approved plan of ground + first + second + third floors by adding a fourth floor. Though the fourth floor was partially completed, the owner has requested 15 days’ time to voluntarily demolish it.
- In Hosatti Layout, under Kodigehalli Ward, Saraswati, the property owner, had constructed an unauthorised fourth floor, which is now being demolished after a request to allow 10 days for voluntary removal.
- HMT Layout, Vidyaranyapura Ward, saw a building that had exceeded the permitted number of floors, with the demolition process already in progress.
Notices and warnings to property owners
BBMP officials have issued notices to property owners who have deviated from the approved building plans, and some owners have already started voluntary demolitions. However, those failing to comply with the regulations face forced demolition, with all associated costs to be recovered from the property owners.
A strict warning has been issued to all property owners within the Yelahanka Zone to adhere to approved building plans. Any violations will result in demolition and the imposition of penalties.
