BBMP greenlights salary payments for new Pourakarmikas in Bengaluru
In a major relief for the newly appointed pourakarmikas, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a directive to begin salary disbursements starting May 2025, even as many workers are yet to complete mandatory documentation under the Human Resource Management System (HRMS).
Out of the 12,692 pourakarmikas regularised under the Direct Payment System (DPS), appointment letters were handed to 3,628 individuals on May 1, 2025. These civic workers, now designated as permanent employees, are required to upload key documents such as PAN cards, Aadhaar numbers, bank details, and dependent family information in HRMS to facilitate their salaries.
However, BBMP has noted that many workers have failed to furnish essential records, including PAN cards, details of family dependents, and educational certificates, delaying the completion of HRMS registration. To address this bottleneck, the civic body has allowed a temporary relaxation: pourakarmikas may proceed with salary registration using the documents already submitted.
The Special Commissioner (Administration), Naveen Kumar Raju, issued an official order granting a two-month window for the submission of the pending documents. During this period, salaries for May and June 2025 will be processed as per the existing HRMS protocol.
All Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), Executive Engineers, and Solid Waste Management Department staff have been directed to ensure smooth implementation of this interim measure.
