Bengaluru auto fares revised after four years, new rates from August 1

Bengaluru

After a four-year hiatus, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) of Bengaluru Urban district has announced a revision in auto rickshaw fares, with the updated rates set to take effect from August 1.

As per the new fare structure, the minimum fare has been increased to ₹36 for the first 2 kilometres, up from the current ₹30. Beyond that, passengers will be charged ₹18 per additional kilometre, revised from the earlier rate of ₹15.

In addition, night travel between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. will attract a 50% surcharge on the standard fare. The RTA has also introduced changes to waiting charges—the first five minutes will be free, after which a charge of ₹10 per 15 minutes will apply.

This fare hike comes in response to rising fuel prices, vehicle maintenance costs, and demands from auto driver unions, marking the first revision since 2021.
