BLR Airport Sets New Record: 60 Million Roses Shipped for Valentine’s Day

BENGALURU

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) has solidified its status as India’s premier perishables hub, facilitating the export of approximately 60 million rose stems during this year’s Valentine’s season.

Totaling over 2,700 metric tonnes (MT), the shipments reached 26 international and 47 domestic destinations.

This massive logistical feat represents a 38% year-on-year increase in stem volume and a staggering 64% rise in tonnage, marking the fifth consecutive year that BLR Airport has led the country in perishable exports.

While international shipments held steady at 305 MT, the airport expanded its global footprint by adding several high-profile destinations to its roster.

Top International Hubs: Singapore (SIN) led the demand, followed by Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Abu Dhabi (AUH), New York (JFK), and Kuwait (KWI).

New Additions: This season saw roses traveling to new markets, including Los Angeles (LAX), London Gatwick (LGW), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Toronto (YYZ), and Orlando (MCO).

Domestic Surge: The domestic market saw the most explosive growth, with 2,402 MT of roses transported—a 79% increase in tonnage compared to the previous year. Delhi (DEL) and Kolkata (CCU) remained the strongest anchors for demand.
