BMRCL enables QR ticketing on 9 popular apps via ONDC network

Bengaluru

In a major push towards digital transit transformation, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced the expansion of its QR ticketing services to nine additional popular consumer platforms through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This strategic move aims to deliver a seamless and inclusive ticket-booking experience for Namma Metro commuters.

Starting Tuesday (July 8, 2025) passengers can now purchase Namma Metro QR tickets on platforms such as EaseMyTrip, Highway Delite, Miles & Kilometres (via Telegram), Namma Yatri, OneTicket, Rapido, Redbus, Tummoc, and Yatri – City Travel Guide. These come in addition to existing ticketing options on the Namma Metro app, WhatsApp chatbot, and Paytm.

Speaking about the initiative, Sri Maheshwar Rao, IAS, MD, BMRCL, emphasised the broader vision behind the move. “This expansion of digital ticketing options is part of our broader effort to integrate first, middle, and last-mile connectivity within a single ecosystem. With auto-rickshaw and cab services already available on the ONDC Network since 2023, the inclusion of metro ticketing completes a vital piece of the multimodal travel system.”

Rao noted that the integration allows commuters to plan and book their complete journey—from doorstep to destination—through a single app, saving both time and effort. “For BMRCL, this is a strategic step toward a more open, inclusive, and technology-forward future for urban mobility. We’re not only improving operational efficiency but also creating a frictionless digital transit experience for Bengaluru’s growing urban population,” he added.

This digital milestone underscores BMRCL’s continued commitment to commuter-first mobility infrastructure. With over 8.5 lakh daily users on weekdays, this initiative aims to streamline the travel experience through enhanced app-based services and open network integration.
