Dharmasthala Crimes: Bheema belongs to Adi Dravida group, not converted to christianity
Bengaluru
Sources close to the witness-complainant and accused in the Dharmasthala mass burial case revealed to blrpost.com that Bheema belongs to the Adi Dravida group, which falls under the Scheduled Caste category. He has not converted to Christianity.
It should be noted that the Adi Dravida group settled in Karnataka are migrants from Tamil Nadu. In contrast, those originating from Karnataka are identified under the broader Adi Karnataka group. There are many sub-sects within these groups.
The source said there is propaganda being spread in mainstream TV channels claiming that Bheema converted to Christianity. However, this is false. His second wife has, on record, told Republic Kannada channel that he has not converted. According to the source, this propaganda is being circulated to push for the involvement of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The source further said the Union Government is not keen on protecting the Dharmasthala administration, as it has other pressing issues to deal with, and considers this a trivial matter.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case arrested Bheema on Saturday, and he will remain in their custody for 10 days. Sources said this period is sufficient to bring out the truth. The SIT will probe both the conspiracy angle and the mass burial angle.
It may be recalled that the government formed the SIT on July 19, after Bheema lodged a complaint at the Dharmasthala police station on July 3. The first FIR was registered at the station on July 4. SIT sources officially maintain that skeletal remains of two human beings were found.
