Belthangady

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala mass burial case has arrested Bheema after question him on Friday and Saturday. He was in SIT custody for two days. The SIT had questioned him till 3 am on Saturday before the arrest.

He was arrested under the grounds of perjury, for lying under the oath. The SIT has found several inconsistencies in his statements. Bheema has now claimed that he has buried autopsy bodies but that is all not true.

Sources in the Home Ministry told blrpost.com that Bheema was interrogated throughout the day on Friday, with questioning continuing until the early hours of Saturday. The SIT posed every possible question related to the case in an effort to unearth the truth. However, officials did not reveal further details in the interest of the investigation. The source said after questioning he was arrested. The SIT has found several inconsistency in his statement.

It should be noted that the State government formed the SIT on July 19 after Bheema filed a complaint at the Dharmasthala police station. The police had registered an FIR on July 4. The complainant, a former sanitation worker, alleged that he was forced to bury bodies and claimed that many of the deceased were victims of abuse and sexual violence.

So far, the SIT’s exhumation operations have uncovered the skeletal remains of two individuals. The digging has been temporarily halted but is likely to resume. The remains have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
