Dharmasthala Crimes: SIT has not yet received FSL report
Bengaluru
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala mass burial case has not yet received the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reports, a highly placed source in the Home Ministry informed blrpost.com. The arrival of the reports will take some more time.
This is contrary to media reports claiming that the SIT had already received a report pertaining to a skull, identifying it as male. Sources clarified that these reports are false, as not a single report has arrived. The report on the skull, which accused Chinnayya presented as evidence, is crucial since he now claims the material was given to him by Girish Mattannavar and Jayanth T. Without the FSL report and the soil sample report, this cannot be proved.
It may be recalled that the SIT was formed by the State government on July 19 after Chinnayya filed a complaint at the Dharmasthala police station. In the complaint, it was alleged that he was forced to bury bodies illegally. Chinnayya also recorded his statement before the magistrate. The SIT conducted exhumation operations for two weeks and found skeletal remains belonging to two human beings. The same has also been sent to the FSL in Madiwala.
The source said the SIT had a detailed discussion with the Director of the State Forensic Science Laboratory regarding the sensitivity and seriousness of the case. The FSL has a heavy workload, and such reports generally take time.
