Dharmasthala Crimes: SIT to continue digging operation with extra preparation

Dharmasthala

Contrary to media reports, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala mass burial case will continue the exhumation operation. However, this time, the team will proceed with extra preparation before digging at the new spot. The SIT completed work at the 13th spot on Wednesday but found no trace of any body.

A section of media reported that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah may direct the SIT to stop the operation on the ground if the team fails to find skeletal remains in the 13th spot. The sources say the SIT has not received any such directions.

Sources in the Home Ministry told blrpost.com that, “As witness-complainant Bheema has given a statement before the magistrate, the SIT is bound to continue the digging operation. However, the team doubts his memory and suspects he may have missed some of the burial locations.”

The sources further said the SIT will mark new spots for the operation. The team will now speak to more people who have come forward, show them the suspected locations, and use local intelligence to identify new digging sites. This approach is expected to help narrow down the actual burial locations.

According to the sources, many are demanding that Bheema be subjected to a narco-analysis test as part of the probe, but the SIT has yet to make a decision. Meanwhile, the SIT will also question his brother and may seek his assistance.

The State government formed the SIT on July 19 after a former sanitation worker of the Dharmasthala Temple Administration filed a police complaint on July 3, alleging he had been forced to bury hundreds of bodies. Of the 16 spots dug so far, the SIT has found skeletal remains at the 6th and 11(A) spots—the latter being the 14th site. These remains belong to two human beings. The SIT has registered unnatural death reports for both cases and launched a detailed investigation.

  1. To start an inquiry with Virendra Hegde, an Ananya Butt mother’s complaint is enough. She was beaten into a coma. Why is his brother anxious to get a gag order? Who attacked the media personnel who are said to be targeted? Who is feeding those gangs? Why are college students from his college pressured to participate in the rally to save the Hegde family? A deep inquiry might reveal his influence on the Indian government itself.

  2. You state home minister is still probing and they belive there is inhuman activity conducted in Dharmasthala. But DKS states its conspiracy. Reason behind my ask is you state is a home ministry source. So it’s creating ambiguity. Can you please respond .
