Dharmasthala Crimes: Woman near Kalleri says ‘I saw Bheema bury the body’

During the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) exhumation operation, a woman living near a burial site confirmed to the team that Bheema buried a body close to her residence near Kalleri petrol bunk.

This indicates that locals have witnessed him performing burials. Sources in the Home Ministry told blrpost.com that the woman’s house is located close to the 15th spot identified by Bheema. “After he buried the body, he asked for water to drink and to wash his hoe (‘hare’ in Kannada). She is a little unsure about the exact spot, but is willing to show it,” the sources said.

The SIT is likely to continue digging in the same location, starting from the point shown by the woman. If the SIT decides to list her as a witness, her testimony could strengthen the case, as she claims to have seen him bury the body.

Meanwhile, six more people have come forward to assist the SIT in locating additional skeletal remains. These villagers say they have seen him perform burials for several years.

It may be recalled that the State government formed the SIT on July 19 after a former sanitation worker of the Dharmasthala Temple Administration filed a complaint with local police on July 3, alleging he was forced to bury hundreds of bodies. The SIT’s exhumation operations are ongoing.
