Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, a leader of Justice for Sowjany exclusively talking to blrpost.com said “Prime Minister Narendra Modi must morally stand behind the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the Dharmasthala mass burial case.”
Modi will be visiting Bengaluru today (Sunday) and will be launching the much-awaited Yellow Line. He will be flagging off three new Vande Bharat trains. Modi will land at HAL airport at 10:30 AM.
His visit is keenly watched by many as he is arriving at a time SIT is probing the case. It should be noted that PM had also visited Dharmasthala in 2017 and met head of the Manjunatha Swamy temple administration D Veerendra Heggade. The sources in the Union Home Ministry say that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is closely watching the developments unfold in the temple town.

Thimarodi who has been in the forefront of the Sowjanya protests said Modi should back the SIT and if necessary provide necessary resources which can be done in the federal system. This will bolster the confidence of the SIT to find out the truth.
Thimarodi said the PM may not be having credible inputs about what has been happening in this village and he is welcome to know the facts. He said the PM can again visit the place and work towards giving justice to the dead.
It may be recalled that the State government formed the SIT on July 19 after a former sanitation worker of the Dharmasthala Temple Administration filed a complaint with local police on July 3, alleging he was forced to bury hundreds of bodies. The SIT’s exhumation operations are ongoing.
