East Corporation sets April deadline for key storm water drain works in Mahadevapura, KR Puram

Bengaluru:

Giving top priority to flood-prevention measures, Commissioner D.S. Ramesh inspected ongoing storm water drain and retaining wall works across several vulnerable locations within the corporation limits and directed officials to fast-track pending works.

At Geddalahalli Railway Vent, officials were instructed to immediately release pending payments to the Railway Department and ensure that one box pushing work already cast, along with the remaining box casting work, is completed by the end of April.

During the inspection of the downstream stretch at Geddalahalli, near the BWSSB STP plant, the Commissioner reviewed the retaining wall construction along the rajakaluve that carries water from Yelahanka and Sarvajnanagar towards Kalkere Lake. He directed officials to clear encroachments and complete the connecting drain work from the Kothnuru side at the earliest.

At the Belagere STP plant, where retaining wall construction along the rajakaluve has been completed, the quality of the work was inspected. Officials were told to remove encroachments along the Belagere rajakaluve and complete the remaining works by the end of March.

The Commissioner also reviewed the retaining wall built after clearing encroachments along the Siddapura rajakaluve, which connects Siddapura Lake to Varthur Lake. He noted that the drain plays a crucial role in preventing waterlogging in the area.

Progress of rajakaluve construction near Prestige Ozone in Varthur was assessed, with officials directed to expedite the pending works. Similarly, the Bilishivale rajakaluve work, connecting to Rampura Lake, has been targeted for completion by April.

Ramesh said the corporation remains committed to completing storm water drain works on priority to prevent flooding during the monsoon and ensure public safety.

Additional Commissioner Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar and other senior officials were present during the inspection.
