Exclusive: Bengaluru cop urinates on private driveway, slaps advocate for objecting

Bengaluru

In a shocking incident that raises serious questions about police conduct, a constable attached to the Koramangala Police Station allegedly urinated on the driveway of a private commercial property in the heart of the city and, along with two associates, slapped an advocate who objected to the act.

The incident occurred around 9 pm on February 6 at Kalpak Arcade, 46/27, Church Street. Advocate Adarsh Gangal, who works from Office No. 401 on the fourth floor and is also one of the co-owners of the property, had just finished work and was walking through the main gate driveway when he witnessed a man urinating against the wall along the rear side of the building. The incident is captured in the CCTV footage and is now with the police.

Shockingly, the man was later identified as Satish, a constable attached to the Koramangala Police Station. He and his two associates have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita — 115(2), 126(2), 3(5), 352 and 324(4). The FIR is registered at Cubbon Park police station. The police, however, conveniently omitted the fact that he is a constable.

When the advocate objected and informed him that the driveway was private property and not a public urinal, the man allegedly ignored him and continued the act. Two other men standing beside him were allegedly consuming alcohol at the time.

According to the complaint, when Adarsh repeated his objection and asked him to use a toilet, the man allegedly told him to wait till he finish. After completing the act, he reportedly abused the advocate in Kannada using obscene language.

The situation quickly escalated. As Adarsh attempted to call the police, the accused allegedly tried to snatch his mobile phone, while the two accompanying men restrained him. One of them allegedly punched/slapped him on the face, breaking his spectacles. When the advocate managed to click a photograph of the accused, the trio allegedly forced him to delete it from his phone.

The assault reportedly ended only after the building’s security personnel intervened and separated the men.

The advocate has stated that he can identify the other two accused. An investigation is underway.
