Bengaluru

Srikrishna Ramesh alias Sriki, accused in a multi-crore bitcoin scam, hacked a Pakistan army school website when he was kept in custody of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru. This is revealed in Sriki’s volunteer statement that is attached as part of the Chargesheet filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

It may be recalled that Sriki was placed in illegal custody by the CCB officers between November 14, 2020 and November 17, 2020. He was kept at CAR Headquarters guest house in Bengaluru. On November 17, 2020, he was arrested after serving notice. The CCB also seized his laptops. On November 18, he was produced before the court and CCB secured Sriki’s custody till December 1. His custody continued  till January 10, 2021. His custody was taken in three different cases registered at K G Nagar police station (91/2020), Cottonpet police station (153/2020) and Bengaluru city cyber crime police station (45/2020).

The BJP government was in power when he was arrested and allegations of corruption and illegal actions by the police surfaced. After Congress came to power SIT was formed on July 3, 2023 to probe into these allegations.

In his volunteer statement recorded before the SIT, he said that at the GCID office, run by a person identified as Santosh, he hacked a Pakistan army school website. CCB had tied up with Santosh for cyber related investigations.

“At Santosh’s office, a police officer identified as Prashanth Babu asked me to hack a website to display my skills. In just a few minutes, I cracked the password and hacked the army school website.” The CCB frequently took Sriki to GCID when he was in illegal custody and police custody.”

However, in the statement, Sriki did not reveal as to the website address that he hacked and what technique he used to identify vulnerability to hack the site run by the school attacked to the Pakistan Army. This statement was given on April 22, 2024.
