Groom dies after DJ‑song dispute: Videos spark outrage

A grievous incident from Ghazipur has gone viral after a groom, Rakesh Ram (25), was brutally assaulted during his wedding reception over a dispute concerning the choice of a DJ song.

The altercation erupted during the garlanding ceremony in Jagdishpur village when two groups clashed. Rakesh and his father intervened, only to be attacked publicly. The brutality, captured on video and widely circulated online, shows Rakesh collapsing after sustaining a severe head injury. He succumbed to his injuries at Varanasi’s BHU Trauma Centre the next day.

Three suspects were arrested, including a man seen wielding a country-made revolver. The court upgraded the charges from attempt to murder to murder. Enraged locals blocked roads in protest, demanding justice. In emotional clips, the bride attempts to stem her husband’s bleeding with her wedding sari — an image that has deeply affected social media and prompted public outrage.
