Haryana Man Raped Daughter-In-Law, Dumped her in 10 Feet Ditch
In a chilling revelation, NDTV reports that a 24-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly raped by her father-in-law before being murdered and buried outside her marital home in Faridabad, Haryana.
The crime, which reportedly took place in April, remained undetected for nearly two months as the woman’s in-laws falsely claimed she had gone missing.
According to the report, the victim was originally from Shikohabad in Firozabad district and had been married in Faridabad in July 2023. Within less than two years of the marriage, she was reportedly subjected to continuous harassment over dowry demands.
On June 21, her decomposed body was finally discovered buried beneath a concrete slab covering a 10-foot-deep pit located just outside her in-laws’ house. The discovery came after a sustained police investigation prompted by suspicions raised by her family.
The father-in-law, who has been arrested, has confessed to the crime during custodial interrogation, according to police sources cited by NDTV. He is currently under a three-day remand with the district crime unit.
The report states that the plan to kill the woman was hatched on April 14. As part of the premeditated scheme, the victim’s mother-in-law was sent to attend a wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah to create an alibi. Then, on the night of April 21, the woman’s husband allegedly laced food with sleeping pills and served it to her and his sister. Both women, who were sleeping in separate rooms on different floors of the house, fell unconscious, facilitating the subsequent crime.
Police investigations are ongoing, and the case continues to shock the local community with its brutality and deception.
According to a detailed report by NDTV, the 24-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, who was found murdered and buried outside her marital home in Faridabad, was allegedly raped by her father-in-law moments before he killed her. The gruesome crime, which occurred in April, remained hidden for nearly two months under a fabricated narrative of the woman having gone “missing.”
As per the police and custodial confession, the father-in-law entered the victim’s room late at night with the intent to murder her. Before committing the murder, he allegedly raped her while she was unconscious, after being drugged earlier that evening. He reportedly did not inform either his wife or son about the sexual assault at the time.
Following the rape, the father-in-law called his son upstairs, and together they allegedly wrapped the woman’s body and dumped it into a pit that had been dug in advance—just outside their home. NDTV reports that the pit, believed by neighbours to be part of drainage or sewer work, was filled with bricks and soil. A concrete slab was later placed over it to conceal the crime.
Police confirmed that the ditch was excavated days earlier using an earthmover under the guise of drainage repairs, a story supported by unsuspecting neighbours who had witnessed the activity. The body was buried just days before the father-in-law filed a missing person’s report on April 25, a move investigators now believe was intended to mislead authorities.
On June 21, police recovered the woman’s partially decomposed body. It was sent for post-mortem, and an FIR was filed naming four members of the family: the father-in-law, mother-in-law, husband, and sister-in-law.
Citing the victim’s sister, NDTV reports that the young woman had endured prolonged domestic abuse. Just months into her marriage, she had returned to her parents’ home and stayed there for over a year due to mistreatment. The sister also alleged that the in-laws were dissatisfied with the dowry received and had been pressuring her for additional cash and gifts—a possible motive that police are actively investigating.
The case continues to evoke public outrage, with calls for stringent punishment and greater accountability in crimes involving dowry and domestic abuse.
