IPS Anuchet out, Karthik Reddy appointed as Bengaluru’s new Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic)

In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the Karnataka government has appointed Karthik Reddy, IPS (KN 2011) as the new Deputy Inspector General and Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru City, replacing Sri M.N. Anucheth, IPS who has been posted as DIG (Recruitment).

The official notification, issued on Monday, lists sweeping transfers involving senior IPS officers, with over a dozen reshuffled across Bengaluru and other districts.

As Bengaluru grapples with mounting traffic congestion and a growing vehicle population, Karthik Reddy’s appointment comes at a critical juncture. Known for his administrative acumen, he will be expected to spearhead reforms and manage traffic operations in one of India’s most gridlocked cities.

Among the other key changes

This reshuffle also affects the intelligence wing, cybercrime units, and law enforcement in Bellary, Kalaburgi, and other districts. With multiple Bengaluru traffic division heads shifted or promoted, the revamp aims to streamline city policing and strengthen regional law enforcement infrastructure. The transfers take effect immediately, according to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR).
