IPS M N Anucheth in USA to present study paper on traffic management
Bengaluru
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) M. N. Anucheth visited the United States of America (USA) to present a study paper on traffic management at the Intelligent Transport Society of America World Congress 2025. Anucheth is also part of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala mass burial case.
Sources in the Home Ministry said his request to travel to the USA for this event was cleared on August 1, 2025, by the Chief Secretary. They added that since he previously served as Joint Commissioner (Traffic), Bengaluru, his interest in participating was natural.
According to the sources, he is expected to return to India within two or three days. “There is no cause for concern regarding his travel. The trip was planned well in advance and will have no impact on the SIT constituted by the government on July 19,” they said.
However, his USA visit has raised eyebrows, as during the Sowjanya controversy, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade had claimed that his brother’s son, Nischal Kumar Jain, was in the USA when Sowjanya was killed in October 2012. Many believe there is a possibility of Anucheth verifying these claims during his visit.
But a source clarified that the SIT is not probing the Sowjanya case at present and that such speculation is unfounded. The SIT is currently focused on questioning Bheema, the accused and witness-complainant who filed a complaint on the mass burial at the Dharmasthala police station on July 3. An FIR was registered the following day, July 4.
