Land acquisition hurdles to be resolved for Kadugodi, Varthur road projects

Bengaluru

Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D S Ramesh on Tuesday directed officials to expedite land acquisition and fast-track development works for key road infrastructure projects, including road widening, grade separators and an elevated corridor being implemented by the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL).

Chairing a coordination meeting with officials from multiple departments, Ramesh reviewed bottlenecks related to land acquisition and the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) process and instructed officers to resolve pending issues to ensure time-bound execution of projects within the corporation’s limits.

During discussions on the proposed additional railway overbridge at Kadugodi, the Commissioner asked KRDCL officials to proactively engage with property owners and secure the required land through persuasion to avoid delays.

For the road widening project from Varthur Kodi to Varthur village, officials were instructed to convince owners of 14 identified properties to part with land as per the Revised Master Plan, which envisages widening the road to 45 metres.

On road widening near Vinayaka Theatre, where notifications have already been issued to 143 properties, Ramesh ordered immediate takeover of properties classified as Relinquishment Deed (RD) land and commencement of development works without further delay.

The Commissioner also noted the presence of government land in Survey Nos. 307 and 308 of Kadugodi village and directed officials from the Bengaluru East Taluk and the City Corporation’s Land Records Department to conduct a joint survey in the presence of property owners and submit a report within two days.

With regard to road widening in Survey No. 271 of Kadugodi village, officials were told to verify ownership records and persuade landowners to hand over the required land. For the Varthur Kodi grade separator project, a meeting with owners of 11 affected properties has been mandated to facilitate land handover.

Ramesh stressed coordinated action among departments to clear land acquisition and TDR-related hurdles and ensure smooth implementation of infrastructure projects.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Prajna Ammembala, Joint Commissioner Dr Dakshayini K, the Chief Engineer and officials of KRDCL, along with senior corporation officials.
