MLA Krishnappa Orders Crackdown on Bogus Khatas on Government Land
Bengaluru:
Vijayanagar MLA Krishnappa on Friday directed officials of the Bengaluru West City Corporation to initiate strict action against bogus khatas created on government-owned properties within the constituency.
Speaking at a review meeting held at the Corporation’s conference hall, the MLA urged officials to respond swiftly to long-pending civic issues raised by residents. He said that fraudulent khatas were being facilitated by middlemen and stressed the need to curb the influence of agents in revenue offices.
Commissioner Dr Rajendra K.V. said that the ongoing property tax revision process must be expedited. He warned that disciplinary action would be taken against revenue inspectors and collectors who fail to perform their duties effectively.

Officials were also instructed to intensify enforcement against unauthorised paying guest accommodations and to coordinate with the police for joint action. On road safety, the MLA directed engineers to identify accident-prone spots and install rumble strips wherever required.
The Corporation further mandated that BESCOM and BWSSB secure prior permission before carrying out any road-cutting work and share project plans with divisional engineers.
CCTV cameras previously installed by the Corporation will be upgraded, with live feeds to be made accessible to local police stations. Strict monitoring of unauthorised trade licences and unregistered hospitals was also ordered.
All unauthorised flex boards and banners must be removed immediately, the Commissioner added, announcing that a city beautification drive will be launched after 15 December.
Reviewing the slow progress of white-topping work in Hosahalli, officials were told to accelerate the project and ensure early completion.
Additional Commissioners Digvijay Bodke (Development) and Manjunath Swamy (Revenue), Joint Commissioner Sangappa, chief engineers, executive engineers, revenue officials and others were present at the meeting.
