One-time window launched for legacy and LED advertisement conversions
Bengaluru
The Bengaluru Central City Corporation has issued a public notification inviting eligible advertising agencies and individuals to apply under the newly notified Greater Bengaluru Area (Advertisement) Rules, 2025.
The rules were published in the Karnataka Gazette through Notification No. UDD/636/MNU/2025(P) dated January 13, 2026. Under these rules, a One Time Opportunity (OTO) has been provided to secure permission for legacy advertisements and to convert existing LED self-advertisement boards into commercial advertisement hoardings.
As per Rule 8 of the Greater Bengaluru Area (Advertisement) Rules, 2025, legacy advertisements are defined under Rule 8.7(i) as those installed on private properties with valid permission obtained under the BBMP Advertisement Bye-laws, 2006, and for which full advertisement tax has been paid.
Further, Rule 8.7(vii) permits conversion of operational LED self-advertisement display boards — previously approved under earlier advertisement bye-laws and still within their validity period — into commercial advertisement boards through the OTO mechanism.
To ensure centralized supervision of the process, the government has appointed Shri Karigowda, IAS, Chief Executive Officer of BSWML, Bengaluru, as the Nodal Officer.
Eligible advertisers must submit a duly signed and typed Form-IV application, along with all relevant supporting documents, on or before April 13, 2026. Applications must be submitted during office hours to the Commissioner, Bengaluru Central City Corporation, 10th Floor, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Building (PUB), M.G. Road, Bengaluru – 560001.
