Prof Babu Mathew elected as president of AITUC Karnataka

The State Council meeting of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Karnataka, held on December 16, unanimously elected Prof Babu Mathew as the President of AITUC Karnataka.
Prof Mathew succeeds Comrade Ananth Subba Rao, who tendered his resignation from the post. The Council placed on record its deep gratitude and appreciation for the yeoman service rendered by Comrade Ananth Subba Rao over more than five decades in the trade union movement. His leadership across all sections of the working class has been unparalleled in Karnataka, the meeting noted, while also requesting his continued guidance and support.
Prof Babu Mathew brings with him a rich and diverse background that seamlessly blends theory and practice. His long association with the trade union movement during the 1970s and 1980s is complemented by his distinguished academic career at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, and the National Law University, New Delhi.
Congratulating Prof Mathew on his election, Comrade Amarjeet Kaur, General Secretary of AITUC, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable contributions of Comrade Ananth Subba Rao. She also conveyed confidence that Prof Babu Mathew would build upon the organisation’s strong foundations and further strengthen AITUC in Karnataka.
