SIT delves into Dharmasthala guest houses’ records for investigation

Bengaluru/Belthangady

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the mass burial case has collected documents, room booking logs, and other records from the lodges run by the Dharmasthala Temple Administration.

It should be noted that the SIT has also questioned lodge and Dharmasthala Information Centre (DIC) staffers at least five times on specific reasons. However, the agency has not disclosed what those reasons are.

A highly placed source in the SIT told blrpost.com that the team has gathered several documents from the lodges where multiple deaths occurred. “We have questioned the lodge and DIC staffers about five times. The SIT is moving step by step to find leads and breakthroughs in the investigation,” the source said.

The source further clarified that the SIT questions individuals only when there are valid reasons, and no mindless questioning has been conducted so far. The team has been carefully examining the collected documents. “It is a long-drawn process, as we are reading logs and records of two decades.  The documents have been collected from the front desks of the lodges,” the source added.

It should also be noted that in the list of Unnatural Death Reports (UDRs) registered at Dharmasthala and Belthangady police stations, some bodies found inside the lodges were listed as unidentified. This raises questions about how bodies remained unidentified even though rooms were booked under registered names. The SIT will now cross-reference these logs with the UDRs.

SIT Chief Pronab Mohanty is expected to visit Belthangady within a day or two and is likely to stay in Dakshina Kannada for an extended period to oversee the investigation. Sources said the SIT will leave no stone unturned during the probe.

  1. Good development and I believe justice will be served soon. In name of god, criminals is hidden behind. they must be punished for all their illegal activities. All corrupt officers should be punished severely.

    1. IF this happens then Siddaramaiah name will go down in history as the CM with Spine, but we all know how justice works in India. Let’s hope for the positive result at least this time.

  2. People know who are behind these mass burials, rape and murder of Soujnaya, Padmalatha, Vedavalli, Narayana-Yamuna,… many unreported cases, UDRs. SIT should not leave a sungle stine unturned now. This will lead to big criminals soon. hope SIT is fully prepared to arrest big criminals involved in the case

  3. Since SIT has not been doing any press briefing, it was causing anxiety and doubts about whether a fair investigation is being conducted or not, specially since Dharmasthala temple administration has successfully blocked any fair investigations for over 50 years. However my faith in the SIT is somewhat restored and I hope they will do an honest and thorough investigation to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Specially after how quickly SIT got conviction of Prajwal Revanna, I do hope Mohanty and his team will grow in stature and fill the shoes of Karnataka SIT’s excellent record.

  4. SIT is inching closer to what is the curious point. Connecting so many dots flawlessly is indeed a daring task .
