SIT intensely probing ‘unexplained deaths’ occurred in Dharmasthala village

Belthangady

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe crimes in Dharmasthala village is intensively investigating a series of unexplained deaths that occurred in the area. The SIT, which is in possession of several unnatural death reports, has narrowed down a few cases that appear suspicious in nature.

Data accessed by blrpost.com show that between 2016 and 2025, 640 unnatural death reports (UDRs) were registered at the Dharmasthala police station, while between 2001 and 2012, 474 UDRs were registered at the Belthangady police station. It should be noted that Dharmasthala did not have a full-fledged police station until 2016; there was only a police outpost, and cases were registered at Belthangady until then.

As part of its investigation into the unexplained deaths, the SIT has been questioning several individuals in its own style. So far, the team has summoned hundreds of people in connection with these and other related matters. Panchayat functionaries, locals, police personnel, and others have been grilled by the investigators. Activists associated with the Sowjanya case were also questioned in connection with accused Chinnaya in the mass burial case. Meanwhile, the SIT is also examining petitions filed by these activists.

The probe into the unexplained deaths is significant, as even the V S Ugrappa Committee had earlier highlighted the issue. Allegations of suspicious deaths and murders have long been raised in the village. This indicates that the SIT’s investigation is not confined to Chinnaya’s claims but has expanded into multiple aspects within its mandate.

Generally, when the team investigates unexplained deaths, it looks into the five basic questions — who, what, when, why, and where. This means the team will examine who was killed (if it was a murder), why the person was killed, and other related factors. The SIT appears committed to unearthing the truth that has remained buried for a very long time in this village.

We are just waiting and wanting to see who will these big people blame now against the mass burial, however i still have a question on how can a temple be in the name of any individual person???? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
