Superhealth launches ‘Superbirth’ to offer choice-driven, end-to-end maternity care in Bengaluru

Bengaluru

Superhealth, India’s first zero wait-time and zero-commission hospital network, on Tuesday announced the launch of Superbirth, a comprehensive, end-to-end birthing programme aimed at restoring informed choice to women and countering the rising dependence on caesarean sections in private healthcare.

Positioned as a “safe and hassle-free” birthing solution, Superbirth is designed to support women from early pregnancy through the first year after childbirth. The programme integrates prenatal readiness, hospital-based labour and delivery care, and extended postpartum and paediatric support, while allowing women to choose between natural birth and caesarean delivery based on medical need or personal preference.

The launch comes amid growing concern over high caesarean section rates in India’s private hospitals. Citing an IIT Madras study, Superhealth noted that C-section rates in private facilities have reached nearly 50%, significantly exceeding the World Health Organization’s recommended range of 10–15%. According to the company, institutional incentives and socio-cultural pressures often drive surgical interventions, limiting women’s autonomy during childbirth.

Superbirth is structured across three phases. The prenatal phase, spanning weeks four to forty of pregnancy, includes baseline health checks, genetic screening, fetal assessments, and structured physical and emotional preparation using evidence-based techniques such as Lamaze. The second phase focuses on labour and hospital care, offering continuous monitoring, support for vaginal delivery, and access to caesarean sections within fully equipped, high-safety hospital settings. The final phase extends from birth to the child’s first birthday, covering maternal recovery, mental health support, lactation counselling, vaccinations, and comprehensive paediatric care.

The programme is delivered by a multidisciplinary team comprising Birthcoaches, midwives, senior obstetricians and gynaecologists, nutrition experts, and fitness and movement specialists, with senior OBGYNs available round the clock. Superhealth emphasised that there is no additional charge if a woman opts for or requires a caesarean section at any stage.

Superbirth follows a single, transparent, all-inclusive pricing model, eliminating multiple maternity “packages”. The fixed fee covers consultations, diagnostic tests and scans, screening, delivery—natural or caesarean—private-room hospital stays, and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) requirements, if needed. It also includes one year of postnatal access to a gynaecologist for the mother, a paediatrician for the child, and all first-year vaccinations.

Speaking at the launch, Varun Dubey, Founder and CEO of Superhealth, said the programme was designed to reverse a system that often prioritises hospital convenience over patient choice. “Private healthcare in India has a C-section rate over three times what is medically recommended—not because women need it, but because hospital systems benefit from it. With Superbirth, we offer a single, fixed-price programme and the freedom to move between natural birth and C-section based purely on what is best for the mother and the baby,” he said.

Priced at ₹3 lakh, Superbirth is currently available exclusively in Bengaluru. With this launch, Superhealth said it would continue expanding its broader mission of building a network of 100 high-end multispecialty hospitals focused on transparency, simplicity, and patient-first outcomes.
