In a swift counter-terror operation, Bengaluru police have arrested three individuals for allegedly planting explosive materials at the Kalasipalya BMTC bus terminal. The incident came to light on the morning of July 23, 2025, around 9:30 AM, when a BMTC Assistant Traffic Officer reported the suspicious presence of explosives at the terminal. Following the complaint, Kalasipalya Police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Police teams, upon inspecting the site, recovered six live gelatin sticks marked R.E.X-90 and 12 electric detonators. These were seized through a formal panchnama and taken into custody for forensic analysis.

Taking the matter seriously, senior police officials formed five specialised teams to track down the culprits. Acting on technical inputs and tip-offs from informants, the teams apprehended three suspects on July 28.

As the investigation progressed, authorities recovered a total of 22 R.E.X-90 gelatin sticks and 30 electric detonators, all live and potentially capable of triggering a major disaster had they been used.

The police have stated that further suspects may be involved and efforts are ongoing to trace them. The motive behind the attempted attack has not been officially disclosed, but sources indicate the involvement of a larger network cannot be ruled out.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police (West), Vamshi Krishna, IPS, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Division), N Girish, IPS. The team was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Chickpet Subdivision) K M Ramesh, and Inspector Kiran Kumar S Neelagar of Kalasipalya Police Station, along with other officers.
