On July 19, an individual identified as Shivakumar reportedly carried out illegal construction by dumping mud and placing a table structure over the drain using a tipper lorry bearing registration number KA-61-O-8415. Earthwork was also carried out with equipment registered under number KA-53-34-1188. The residents noted that this obstruction causes water to backflow into their compound during rains, threatening apartments and civic spaces with flooding.

Further, on the morning of July 21 (Monday), a CMG security personnel allegedly blocked the drain barrier, worsening the situation. As a result, stormwater is now flowing back into Athashri premises, causing damage to property and posing risks to residents’ safety and health.
