Woman techie assaults BMTC driver over unscheduled stop request in Bengaluru

Bengaluru

A woman techie allegedly assaulted a BMTC bus driver in Bengaluru after he refused to make an unscheduled stop near her workplace.

The incident took place on June 11 aboard a BMTC bus (KA 57 F 0836) running between Tin Factory and Electronics City. Around 8:40 am, when the bus reached Kaikondrahalli on Sarjapur Road, the passenger — identified as Kavya, a software professional — demanded that the driver stop the vehicle near her office on Electronics City Road, even though there was no designated stop at that point.

The driver, Athar Hussain (42), declined her request citing heavy traffic and official route restrictions. In response, the woman techie allegedly abused him verbally and struck him with her footwear.

Based on the driver’s complaint, the Bellandur police have registered a case against her under Sections 121, 131, 132, and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
