12 kg ganja worth ₹7 Lakh seized in Mandya; two arrested

Excise officials in Srirangapatna on Wednesday seized 12 kilograms of ganja, valued at ₹7 lakh in the international market, and arrested two suspects during a raid.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Deputy Commissioner Nagashayana intercepted a motorcycle near Bommur Agrahara and detained Irshad from Mysuru and Akbar from Gundlupet. The duo was riding a motorcycle without registration plates and was reportedly planning to supply ganja in Mandya.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused sourced the contraband from Odisha and distributed it across Mandya, Mysuru, and neighbouring districts. Officials also stated that multiple cases had previously been registered against both men.
The accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the vehicle used in the offence has been seized. Further investigation is in progress.
