Mason held for brutal murder of 14-Year-Old girl in Tavarekere

A 14-year-old girl was brutally murdered in Tavarekere on Wednesday, and police have arrested a mason in connection with the crime. The accused, a native of Raichur, had been working in the town for the past few months.

According to police, the incident occurred when the victim, whose family hails from Koppal, was alone at home. Her parents and brother, all employed as daily-wage workers in Tavarekere for the last two years, were away at work.

The accused, who had rented a house in Kuvempu Nagar six months ago, had reportedly been observing the girl since a local festival about 15 days ago. On Wednesday afternoon, allegedly under the influence of ganja, he barged into the house and killed her. Police suspected he may have also attempted sexual assault. While it is certain that the girl was murdered, the post-mortem report will reveal if there was rape”.

Ramanagara Superintendent of Police R. Srinivas Gowda said, “We have arrested one person and are questioning him. He attempted to sell an LPG cylinder to raise money to escape, but was caught in the early hours of Thursday.”

Police also revealed that the accused is wanted in a theft case registered in Bengaluru, and further investigations are underway to determine his involvement in other crimes.

The case has triggered shock and outrage in the local community, with officials vowing a thorough investigation and swift justice.
