In a shocking crime of passion, a 33-year-old homemaker and mother of two was brutally stabbed to death by her lover inside a lodge in South Bengaluru, police revealed on Monday.

The victim, Harini R from Kengeri, was attacked at least 12 times in her torso by 25-year-old techie Yashas, also from Kengeri. The incident occurred in Room 204 of Emara Galaxy GM Royals Oyo Lodge in Uttarahalli during the night of June 6-7.

According to the police, Yashas arrived at the hotel armed with a knife, enraged after Harini allegedly asked him to end their relationship. Harini, married since 2012 to a farmer named Dasegowda H P (41), is survived by two daughters aged 13 and 10. Sources said her husband had learned of the affair and had warned her to break off contact with Yashas, but she reportedly continued to communicate with him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh Jagalasar said, “Yashas was angry that Harini was trying to maintain distance from her and stabbed her. He had purchased a knife with an intention to kill her. They had met through a mutual friend and were known to each other for about a year. We are continuing our investigation”.

Investigators disclosed that Harini and Yashas first connected on Facebook three years ago but grew close only over the past year. Their relationship had turned intimate in the last six months. However, two months ago, Harini began distancing herself, urging Yashas to stay away.

On June 6, they met at the lodge to discuss their strained relationship. An argument reportedly spiraled out of control, leading to the fatal assault. After the attack, Yashas fled the scene and later admitted himself to KIMS Hospital with a self-inflicted knife wound in an apparent attempt to feign a suicide attempt and mislead investigators.

Police arrested Yashas on June 8 after he was discharged from the hospital. The weapon used in the murder has been recovered, and further investigations are underway.

Harini’s husband told police that despite warnings from him and other family members, she maintained contact with Yashas, which ultimately led to the tragic incident.
