Three-month-old toddler killed in truck accident at Jalahalli; driver arrested in Kurnool
A tragic accident near Kuvempu Circle in Jalahalli claimed the life of a three-month-old baby boy on Thursday night. The infant died on the spot after a speeding truck rammed into the bike his parents were riding. The couple, identified as Sara and Mc Adam from Ejipura, narrowly escaped with minor injuries.
According to police, the family was returning home after visiting the IKEA showroom when the truck struck their two-wheeler from behind. The impact threw the couple to one side of the road, while the baby fell to the other and was fatally run over by the truck.
Following the incident, the Jalahalli traffic police launched a massive hunt for the truck based on the parents’ description of its green colour. Officers scanned footage from over 100 CCTV cameras along the route between Bengaluru and Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. The vehicle was finally traced to Kurnool, where the driver, identified as Ismail, was arrested.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Siri Gowri confirmed that the truck was intercepted at the Sadahalli toll gate before being seized in Kurnool. “The truck knocked down their bike, leading to the loss of the child. Based on its colour and CCTV footage, we tracked the vehicle and arrested the driver,” she said.
