Karnataka Cabinet approves revised ₹742 crore estimate for Anubhava Mantapa project in Basavakalyan

Bengaluru

The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the revised estimate of ₹742 crore for the construction of the new Anubhava Mantapa in Basavakalyan in Bidar district marking a significant step forward for this ambitious cultural and spiritual project.

The project, which faced earlier delays due to land disputes, has now received the green light with a 132-crore increase from its original estimate of ₹612 crore.

District in-charge Minister for Bidar, Eshwar B Khandre, expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Revenue Department for their support in facilitating the revised budget and land allocation. He also extended his thanks to all cabinet members for approving the updated plan.

The project’s cost escalation was attributed to two main factors: a change in the construction site due to land-related complications and the increase in GST to 18%. These developments necessitated an updated financial estimate, which has now been officially sanctioned.

Minister Khandre assured that the project would gain momentum with the goal of completing construction by the end of 2026. He added that the inauguration would be held under the leadership of the Chief Minister once the Anubhava Mantapa is ready.

The Anubhava Mantapa, envisioned as a grand cultural and philosophical center, aims to celebrate the teachings of 12th-century reformer Basavanna and promote the legacy of the Veerashaiva-Lingayat tradition.
