A potential security threat may have been averted on Wednesday afternoon after six gelatin sticks and multiple detonators were discovered separately in a carry bag near a toilet at the Kalasipalya BMTC bus stand in Bengaluru.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Bengaluru, the explosive materials were found stored separately in the bag, raising suspicions about a possible attempt to assemble an improvised explosive device.

The discovery triggered immediate alert among security personnel and passengers in the area. The FIR is registered at Kalasipalya police station.

According to the FIR, at around 1:15 pm, security personnel Prabhavati and Raju informed that some unknown person had left a bag near the toilet at the private bus stand and brought the bag to the complainant’s office.

At that time, DTO Manjunayak and security staff Fakruddin, Prabhavati, and Raju were present at the spot. The complainants suspected that there might be some explosive in the bag and informed the police control room.

Following the alert, officials from the Kalasipalya police station, along with the Anti-Terrorist Squad, visited the location and carried out a detailed inspection of the site and recovered the explosives.

Since Kalasipalya bus stand is a highly crowded area, and with the intent of causing harm to public life and property out of malice, a complaint has been submitted requesting to identify and take appropriate legal action against the persons who placed the explosive materials.
