CM announces ₹5 lakh, PM ₹2 lakh ex-gratia for Hassan accident victims

In the wake of the tragic road accident that occurred in Hassan district on Friday, both the Chief Minister of Karnataka and the Prime Minister announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased.
A truck rammed into a Ganesh procession in Mosale Hosahalli, Hassan district, leaving eight people dead and 18 others injured. Emergency services and local authorities rushed to the spot, quickly shifting the injured to nearby hospitals, where they are currently receiving treatment. The Deputy Commissioner of Hassan district also visited the spot on Saturday.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh each for the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and sanctioned an amount of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for each deceased victim’s family. The Karnataka government will bear the cost of treatment for the injured, while the Union government has announced ₹50,000 for each of them.
In his statement, CM Siddaramaiah expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured all necessary support to the victims’ families. “We stand by the bereaved families during this difficult time. The government will ensure the best medical care for the injured,” he said. Prime Minister Modi also conveyed his condolences via social media, calling the incident “heart-wrenching” and extending prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
