What began as routine sewage maintenance in a Hosakote apartment complex turned grim when a male foetus was discovered—an incident that has now brought iPhone manufacturer Foxconn under police scrutiny.

Bengaluru Rural Police served a notice on October 8 to the Taiwan based company, Foxconn aka Hon Hai Technology Group, located at Doddaballapur in connection with this foeticide case registered at the Sulibele police station in March.

Blrpost.com has exclusively accessed both the First Information Report (FIR) and the police notice. The notice was addressed to Arun, the Head Dominator of Foxconn. The company, which recently set up a major manufacturing unit in Doddaballapura, has been asked to furnish key employee details of 2,100 workers.

According to the complaint filed by K S Muralidhar (37), a supervisor at BCD Company, the apartment complex houses around 2,100 women employees of Foxconn. The BCD residential complex is located in Kambalipura village, Hosakote.

The incident came to light around 10:45 a.m. on March 14, 2025, when maintenance staff discovered a male foetus while cleaning the bar chamber of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The foetus was placed in a plastic container, and the police were immediately informed.

Following the complaint, Sulibele police registered a case under section 91 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Preliminary investigations suggest that the foetus might have been disposed of through the sewage system to conceal an illegal abortion or an unreported birth. Police suspect that an employee of Foxconn may be involved.

In March, police first issued a notice to BCD Company, directing it to provide details of all 2,100 women employees residing in the apartment complex. However, company representative Harindranath K N told the police that BCD did not possess the required information and suggested obtaining it directly from Foxconn.

Subsequently, the police issued a second notice to the company’s head dominator, Arun instructing him to appear before the investigating officer with the necessary documents and employee details. The police are likely to question many employees in the case after obtaining the details.
