Karnataka’ ₹600 Crore Anubhava Mantapa to be inaugurated next year: CM Siddaramaiah
Mysuru
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the ambitious ₹600 crore Anubhava Mantapa project—a grand tribute to Basavanna’s philosophy and teachings—will be completed and inaugurated in 2026. He was speaking at the “Basava Jayanti 2025: Namma Nade Anubhava Mantapada Kade” event, organised by the Federation of Basava Organisations and the All India Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha at Mysuru.
Highlighting Basavanna’s multifaceted legacy, the Chief Minister said, “He was not just a revolutionary thinker, but also a globally renowned economic visionary. His ideas of kayaka (dignified labour) and dasoha (selfless service) laid the foundation for a humane, egalitarian society.”
Siddaramaiah emphasised that the Basava tradition’s revolt against caste hierarchy and its advocacy for a caste-free, class-free, and just society stands unmatched across the globe. “The vachanas of Basava Sharanas are not just spiritual verses, but lived experiences promoting social justice. They brought literature to the common people in their spoken language, countering Sanskrit elitism that once denied access to education,” he added.
Reflecting on his personal journey, the Chief Minister shared that both his parents were denied education due to their caste. “Thanks to a teacher named Rajappa and the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, I could receive education and serve as Chief Minister twice. The Constitution empowered me to reach this position,” he said.
He also assured the gathering that the government would allocate additional funds for the construction of Basava Bhavana, as requested by the Basava organisations.
