Modi survives only through publicity: CM Siddaramaiah slams BJP government

Mysuru

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led central government, accusing them of surviving purely on publicity rather than performance. Speaking to the media at his residence in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah declared that the Modi government deserves a “zero rating” for its governance.

“The Modi government has only completed eleven years in power — that’s all they have done. Nothing concrete has been achieved,” Siddaramaiah said. He criticised the Prime Minister for failing to deliver on major promises such as demonetisation benefits, job creation, and solving farmers’ issues.

“Who benefited from demonetisation?” he asked. “Modi promised to bring ‘Achhe Din’ and said he would create 2 crore jobs each year. He also assured solutions to farmers’ problems. Then why did farmers have to protest for over a year?”

Siddaramaiah alleged that Modi thrives on false narratives promoted by the media. “The media has amplified Modi’s image. They spread false claims. When our government introduced the Guarantee Schemes, they said it would bankrupt the state and was not feasible. But the same BJP copied our schemes and implemented them in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi,” he said.

He also pointed to past promises and financial injustices to Karnataka under BJP rule. “When Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he demanded 50% tax devolution. But after becoming the Prime Minister, what did he do?” Siddaramaiah questioned.

He further alleged that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman promised ₹5,300 crore for Karnataka but did not deliver. “Even the 15th Finance Commission recommended ₹11,495 crore for Karnataka. Yet, the funds were not released. Instead of questioning this injustice, the BJP is busy spreading falsehoods,” Siddaramaiah concluded.
