Upa Lokayukta Justice Phaneendra orders razor blade, gets old clothes; police book delivery executive

Bengaluru

In a startling case that underscores the growing risks in online shopping, Karnataka Upa Lokayukta Justice K N Phaneendra has alleged that a razor blade he ordered online was replaced with a bundle of old used clothes.

An FIR was registered against the delivery executive at Central CEN police station, following Upa Lokayukta’s complaint.

According to the complaint, Justice Phaneendra, who is posted at the Lokayukta office in the MS Building, placed an online order for razor blade on February 4, 2026, through the website of Good Max Company. The product, priced at ₹699, was to be delivered within a few days.

On February 9, Vijay, a delivery executive associated with Shadowfax Surface Logistics, contacted Justice Phaneendra over the phone, informing him that the parcel had arrived and seeking confirmation for delivery. As Justice Phaneendra was at his office at the time, he instructed the executive to deliver the package to his residence instead.

The parcel was subsequently delivered to his home, and ₹699 was collected in cash as payment. However, when Justice aneendra returned home later that evening and opened the package, he was shocked to find old clothes stuffed inside instead of the razor blade he had ordered.

The Upa Lokayukta immediately contacted the delivery executive. However, Vijay reportedly denied any involvement in the alleged tampering, stating that he was only responsible for delivering sealed parcels and had no knowledge of the contents. He is said to have advised to take up the issue with the company concerned.

Dissatisfied with the response and suspecting cheating, Justice Phaneendra filed a formal complaint seeking action against both Good Max Company for allegedly supplying a different product and Shadowfax Surface Logistics for its role in the delivery process.

Based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR against Vijay and initiated an investigation to ascertain where the alleged swap occurred — whether at the source, during transit, or at the point of delivery. Authorities are now examining the supply chain trail and delivery records as part of the probe.

The incident has raised concerns about accountability in the e-commerce and logistics ecosystem — especially when even a senior anti-corruption official is not spared from alleged online fraud.
