Fake branded apparel worth lakhs seized in a raid in Bengaluru
Siddapura police have busted a major counterfeit clothing racket in Byrasandra, seizing fake garments worth several lakhs of rupees. The raid was conducted at a godown where large quantities of duplicate Puma and Nike apparel were being stocked and distributed.
According to police, the owner of the godown, identified as Avinash, had been sourcing the counterfeit goods from Delhi and selling them in the Bengaluru market at steeply discounted prices. The seized items include sportswear, T-shirts, and innerwear bearing fake labels of popular international brands.
The operation was launched following a complaint from Sreejith, a representative of Nike and Puma, who alerted authorities to the illegal trade. A case has been registered under the Copyrights Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and possible accomplices.
