Aviator game scam: Bengaluru youth duped of ₹12.46 lakh through online betting platform

A case of online financial fraud involving the popular betting interface Aviator has been registered in Whitefield CEN police station in Bengaluru after a youth lost ₹12.46 lakh to a fake online gaming website. 

According to the FIR, the victim was introduced to the betting app Aviator, hosted on the website https://playinmatch.com, through unknown individuals who contacted him on WhatsApp and over the phone. The scammers, using mobile numbers such as +917039765471, +919820654187, and +919967325849, convinced the complainant to invest money into a betting game that promised fast returns.

The Aviator game simulates a flight that “takes off” and crashes unpredictably, allowing users to cash out before the crash to earn profits. The victim was told that by placing timely bets, he could earn large sums instantly. Initially lured by small returns, the complainant made several payments via UPI and bank transfers into an IDFC First Bank account (A/C No: xxxx5474121).

Over time, the victim deposited a total of ₹12,46,000 in the hope of gaining access to higher winnings. However, when he attempted to withdraw the claimed profits, he was only able to secure ₹2 lakh. Later, the scammers demanded a further ₹6 lakh under the guise of processing charges. Suspecting foul play, the victim reported the matter to the police.

The cybercrime division has registered a case under Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act and Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Officials are investigating the fraudulent operations behind the website playinmatch.com and tracing the individuals who facilitated the scam through mobile and banking channels.

Authorities have warned citizens against engaging with unverified gambling platforms and to remain cautious about promises of quick financial returns through online games like Aviator.
