Dharmasthala Crimes: SIT solves Lakshmi, ATM, Pan cards mystery
Dharmasthala
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) team probing the Dharmasthala mass burial case has traced the history of ATM card bearing the name of Lakshmi, Pan card bearing the name of a man in just three days. These were found in the first spot.
A highly placed source in the team said the man whose name was in the Pan card hails from Mandya and he died about six months back. The ATM (debit) card that was found belongs to his mother identified as Lakshmi.
The blrpost.com was first reported about the discovery of these cards and raised doubts about Lakshmi.
The news website when ran the name of Lakshmi in its database, found a match with an RTI document pertaining to Belthangady police station. A Unnatural Death Report (UDR) was reported in 2009 in the same police station. This gave rise to speculations prompting the SIT to work fast on solving this mystery.
The source said “Pan card belongs to a man from Mandya and he died of natural causes. The investigation also found that he was an alcoholic. The debit card was his mother’s.” The SIT is yet to provide detailed information about why he travelled to Dharmasthala and why he was carrying the debit card. The story will be updated once more details are shared.
The SIT that has been carrying out exhumation from the last three days will continue the work on Friday. The sources believe that more skeletal remains will be found in the remaining sites. The State government formed the SIT headed by Director General of Police, Pronab Mohanty on July 19 following the public outcry over mass burial. The allegations were made by a former sanitation worker of Dharmasthala Temple Administration and he registered a complaint in Dharmasthala police station in the first week of July.
