‘Ministry of Home Affairs not looking into Dharmasthala issue’

New Delhi/Bengaluru

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is not looking into the alleged conspiracy against Dharmasthala and the case of mass burial, a senior official in the MHA informed blrpost.com. This means a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the matter is ruled out for now, as it requires an MHA order for the country’s top agency to intervene.

A Karnataka-cadre IPS officer, currently on central deputation in the MHA, said, “The Home Affairs is not doing anything related to Dharmasthala.” This indicates that reports of the MHA preparing for an NIA probe are fake. The officer explained that for the NIA to take up the case, the agency requires a formal order from the MHA. No such order has been passed so far and no directions have also been given in that direction.

Meanwhile, there are also reports about the ED probing alleged foreign funding to Sowjanya activists and YouTubers. However, the ED has not issued any official statement. In Mysuru, at the Odanadi office, some individuals claiming to be from local intelligence visited. This website has not yet been able to verify their identities, but an investigation into this aspect is also underway.

It should be noted that the ED does not deploy local intelligence personnel to conduct searches or gather information, as the agency has its own mechanisms. Another highly placed source in the MHA said a lot of misinformation is being peddled on mainstream TV channels and social media in this connection.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently probing the mass burial case and has questioned many people so far. During two mahajars at Bangle Gudde, the SIT discovered a large number of skeletal remains.
