No suspicious UDR patterns in Subramanya, unlike those discovered in Dharmasthala village: SIT probe

Bengaluru

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Unnatural Death Reports (UDRs) registered at the Dharmasthala and Belthangady police stations has also examined UDRs in popular temple towns such as Subramanya, Kollur, and other areas in the state. The SIT had obtained these UDRs at the beginning of its investigation into the mass burial case.

Sources in the Home Ministry told blrpost.com that “the SIT has not found any significant or suspicious patterns in Subramanya, Kollur, and other temple towns. The finding in Subramanya plays a major role in the investigation, as many people visiting Dharmasthala village also travel to Subramanya. There cannot be any comparison between the UDRs in Subramanya and those in Dharmasthala. The Dharmasthala UDRs show suspicious patterns.”

The sources added that since suspicious patterns have been found in the UDRs registered at the Dharmasthala and Belthangady police stations, the SIT is going through them one by one—page by page and case by case. The team is also in touch with multiple petitioners who had flagged certain UDRs as suspicious. This is a long-drawn investigation, unlike the mass burial case involving accused Chinnayya.

According to one source, “In Subramanya, there is a spike in UDRs in some years and a drop in others. There is definitely no consistent pattern like the one observed in the UDRs from Dharmasthala and Belthangady police stations.”

The SIT is once again questioning multiple policemen, staff members of the Dharmasthala Information Centre, and room boys of the lodges run by the temple administration. A source in the SIT said the probe is progressing in all dimensions and is by far one of the largest investigations ever undertaken in Karnataka.

  1. In UDR also there are suspicious cases in Dharmasthala. At the same time SIT did not mention about illegal burial in Dharmasthala. Did SIT see any illegal burial in temple town like Subramanya and Kolluru?

  2. It is surprising that, until activist Soujanya lodged the second complaint supported by RTI findings, the SIT investigation had not focused on this aspect earlier…..? why…..?

  3. It’s heartening news, that SIT is indeed taking the UDR seriously and examining it one by one, and also comparing the same with other temple towns in and around Dharmasthala and in Karnataka.
This will definitely help to find the truth in this case

  4. There are a lot of suspicious cases in UDR and Dharmasthala Panchayat records itself. When is SIT going to crack it?
