Encroachment crackdown: BDA recovers 35 guntas worth ₹45 crore in Mallathahalli
Bengaluru:
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on Monday took possession of approximately 35 guntas of land valued at nearly ₹45 crore in Mallathahalli village, Yeshwanthpura hobli, as part of its ongoing drive against encroachments.
The encroachment clearance drive has gathered pace after P Manivannan took charge as BDA Commissioner, with officials intensifying field inspections and enforcement actions across the city.
According to officials, the enforcement action was carried out in Sy. No. 49/2 at Mallathahalli village in Bengaluru North taluk, where unauthorised constructions had come up on BDA property. The structures were demolished and the land was taken back into lawful possession.
The operation was conducted by the BDA Task Force along with Engineer Officer–1, the Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer of the West Division. Jurisdictional police personnel provided security and logistical support during the drive.
Officials stated that the action forms part of the authority’s statutory mandate to safeguard its properties and ensure that public land earmarked for planned development is protected from illegal occupation.
The BDA also issued a public advisory urging citizens to exercise due diligence before purchasing sites or properties. Prospective buyers have been asked to ensure that sites are located in duly approved layouts, and that title documents, statutory clearances and approvals from competent authorities are thoroughly verified.
The authority emphasised that public cooperation is essential to prevent encroachments and to promote orderly and planned urban development in the city.
