88.92 lakh voters in revised draft electoral roll for Bengaluru civic polls; claims and objections open till March 16
Bengaluru
A total of 88,92,528 voters have been included in the ward-wise revised draft voter list prepared for the upcoming city corporation elections under the jurisdiction of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). The information was released on Monday by District Election Officer and Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao.
Speaking to reporters after releasing the revised draft electoral roll, Rao said the initial draft voter list was first published on January 19, following which several errors were identified and rectified, leading to the preparation of the revised draft released on Monday.
Five corporations, 369 wards
Under the administrative framework of the Greater Bengaluru Authority, five city corporations have been constituted for electoral purposes. These include:
- Bengaluru Central City Corporation
- Bengaluru North City Corporation
- Bengaluru South City Corporation
- Bengaluru East City Corporation
- Bengaluru West City Corporation
Together, these five corporations account for 369 wards across the city.
The revised draft voter list shows 45,69,752 male voters, 43,21,143 female voters, and 1,635 voters in the “other” category, bringing the total electorate to 88,92,528. Authorities have planned to establish 8,024 polling booths across the wards to facilitate voting during the civic elections.
Highest and lowest voter wards
The electoral roll also highlights variations in voter concentration across wards.
- Ward No. 51 – Subramanya Pura, located in the Bengaluru South City Corporation, has the highest number of voters, with 54,026 registered voters.
- Ward No. 16 – Kotturu, under the Bengaluru East City Corporation, has the lowest number of voters, with 10,940 voters.
Officials said these numbers reflect the population density and urban expansion patterns in different parts of the city.
Claims and objections window
According to the election schedule, citizens will be able to file claims and objections from March 10 to March 16, 2026.
Voters who find that:
- their names are missing,
- their names appear in an incorrect ward, or
- any other discrepancy exists,
can submit applications seeking corrections during this period.
Authorities said the objective of this exercise is to ensure that the final electoral roll is accurate and error-free before the elections.
Final voter list on April 6
After examining all claims and objections received during the revision period, the election authorities will publish the final voter list on April 6, 2026.
The administration has also planned a wide public outreach campaign to ensure that voters verify their details in the electoral roll before the deadline.
Voter list accessible online
To make the process more convenient, the revised draft voter list will be uploaded in PDF format on the official website of the Greater Bengaluru Authority.
Citizens will be able to search their names using their EPIC number or name and confirm whether their details have been correctly entered in the ward-wise list.
Helpline numbers for voters
To assist citizens with queries related to voter registration and corrections, dedicated helpline numbers have been issued for each of the five city corporations:
- Bengaluru Central: 080-22975803
- Bengaluru North: 080-22975936
- Bengaluru South: 9480685704
- Bengaluru East: 9480685706
- Bengaluru West: 9480685703
Officials said these helplines will guide voters regarding name inclusion, corrections, ward transfers, and other electoral roll issues.
Booth Level Agents to be appointed
Recognized and registered political parties have also been asked to appoint one Booth Level Agent (BLA) for every polling station in each ward.
These agents will work with election officials to identify eligible voters who are not yet enrolled and ensure that the electoral roll includes all qualified citizens.
Physical verification at government offices
In addition to the online portal, authorities have also arranged for physical inspection of the voter list.
Copies of the revised draft electoral roll will be available at:
- offices of the Electoral Registration Officers, and
- ward offices across the five corporations.
Residents can visit these locations to verify their details and file corrections if necessary.
Awareness campaign across Bengaluru
To ensure maximum public participation in the verification process, the election administration has planned an extensive awareness campaign.
Interestingly, loudspeakers mounted on garbage collection autos operated by the Solid Waste Management department will be used to broadcast announcements across neighbourhoods as the vehicles travel door-to-door collecting waste.
Authorities will also spread awareness through social media platforms such as Facebook and X, along with announcements through print and television media.
