Foetus found in toilet pit near Foxconn campus; second such case raises alarm

Bengaluru

In a disturbing incident, a human foetus was discovered inside a toilet pit within a building near the Foxconn campus in Doddaballapura on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The facility is part of the company’s expansive iPhone manufacturing operations on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

According to police sources, this marks the second such incident reported in connection with the campus, prompting heightened concern among authorities. Personnel from the Vishwanathapura Police Station rushed to the location upon receiving information and initiated preliminary procedures to recover the foetus. A formal complaint is currently being processed, and a First Information Report (FIR) is expected to be registered shortly.

A senior police official told blrpost.com that the foetus was found inside a toilet pit, with local workers alerting authorities after noticing the situation. Bloodstains were reportedly visible in and around the washroom area, suggesting recent activity. Officials stated that further details, including the gender of the foetus, will be informed after registering the FIR.

Police indicated that, following the registration of the FIR, a detailed investigation will be launched to identify the individual responsible for disposing of the foetus. Investigators are also examining whether the case is linked to an illegal abortion or an unreported childbirth.

Previous incident

The latest discovery comes just over a year after a similar incident on March 14, 2025, when maintenance staff found a male foetus during routine cleaning of a bar chamber at a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) located near a dormitory outside the Foxconn campus. The foetus had been placed inside a plastic container, and authorities were promptly notified.

Based on the complaint, the Sulibele Police Station registered a case under Section 91 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Preliminary findings at the time suggested that the foetus may have been disposed of through the sewage network in an attempt to conceal an illegal abortion or an unreported birth. Police suspected possible involvement of an employee associated with the Foxconn facility.

As part of the investigation, authorities issued notices to BCD Company, which manages residential facilities, seeking detailed information on over 2,100 women employees residing in the apartment complex. However, a company representative, Harindranath K N, informed police that such records were not maintained by BCD and advised investigators to obtain the data directly from Foxconn.

Subsequently, a second notice was served to the company’s head administrator, Arun, directing him to appear before the investigating officer with relevant employee records and documentation. Police officials indicated that multiple employees may be questioned once the required information is obtained. The probe in this case is still underway.
